FAQ
ℹ️ The Target Tech Simulator
What is Target Tech ?
Target Tech is a next-generation laser shooting simulator, 100% designed and developed in France. It allows sports shooters, amateurs, competitors, and security professionals to train realistically, economically, and safely at home or in a club.
Thanks to a simple webcam and laser replicas (or training cartridges), the software analyzes your shots in real time and calculates your scores and reaction times.
How does webcam detection work ?
The principle is simple and relies on advanced image processing algorithms:
- You install a physical target of your choice on a well-lit wall.
- You orient your webcam toward this target.
- When you press the trigger, a short light beam emitted by your laser replica hits the target.
- Our software instantly detects the light impact and calculates its geometric coordinates to record your score and reaction time in milliseconds.
What are the benefits of this training ?
Laser shooting training (or Dry Fire) offers multiple benefits:
- Total safety: No real ammunition, allowing you to practice indoors in complete serenity.
- Major economy: Train as many times as you want without spending a penny on ammunition.
- Precision analysis: Immediate correction of trigger pull, aiming, or stance errors thanks to trajectory analysis.
- Fun and immersive: Tactical game modes, speed challenges, and interactive scenarios to break the monotony.
🛠️ Equipment & Configuration
What equipment do I need to get started ?
To use the simulator, you must have the following basic equipment:
- A computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux) with an Internet connection to access the web platform.
- A standard webcam (HD 720p or 1080p with a stable frame rate of minimum 30 FPS, 60 FPS being ideal for absolute precision).
- A dummy laser replica (laser training replica type) or your real firearm equipped with a laser training cartridge inserted directly into the chamber (available for most calibers: 9mm, .45 ACP, etc.).
- A paper target that you can print for free from our user space.
What types of lasers are compatible ?
The Target Tech simulator's detection system supports only red lasers of the following categories:
- Class 1 and Class 2 lasers: Low-power beams, authorized for individual training and general public use at home.
- Class 3R lasers: Intermediate-power beams, whose use is strictly reserved for a professional framework defined by law (law enforcement, professional training).
Important note: Infrared (IR - invisible) lasers are not supported by our software.
How to properly set up my webcam and room ?
To guarantee 100% accurate detection, a few simple setup rules should be followed:
- Even lighting: Make sure the target is well lit and avoid direct reflections from the sun or strong lights pointing at the webcam lens.
- Stability: The webcam must be completely stable (on a tripod or securely attached to your screen) to avoid false detections due to vibrations.
- Framing: Frame only the shooting area, ensuring the target occupies a significant part of the camera view.
🛡️ Safety & Legislation
Does using a laser carry risks ?
The simulator uses laser beams of very short duration (a few milliseconds per percussion pulse).
For individual training at home, the use of Class 1 or Class 2 lasers is highly recommended and authorized. These low-power lasers are safe for eyesight under normal use.
Caution: Never point a laser (even Class 1) at the eyes of people or pets. The use of Class 3R lasers or higher is reserved for professionals and strictly regulated by law.
Where is Target Tech developed and how are my data managed?
The Target Tech simulator is 100% designed and developed in France by a French company.
All user data (statistics, progress, accounts) are stored and managed on secure servers located in France. We guarantee full compliance with the European GDPR as well as French regulations on personal data protection. No data is shared with third parties or transferred outside the European Union.
🛒 Offers & Licenses
Can I test Target Tech for free ?
Yes! We offer a Free Plan that gives you access to the classic shooting mode (limited to 25 shots per session) and the retro/projector mode (without shot limits to complete the Forest course on a projector), as well as simple targets.
This allows you to calibrate your equipment (webcam and red laser) and check that our camera detection solution works optimally on your computer before considering a paid plan (Starter or Premium) that unlocks unlimited access.
What are the details of the Premium and Club plans ?
Our subscriptions unlock the full potential of the simulator:
- Premium Plan: Unlimited access to all shooting modes (speed, memory, mobile tactical courses), full statistics with progression history, and exclusive printable or on-screen animated targets.
- Club Plan: Specifically designed for associations, shooting clubs, and professional training structures. It allows managing multiple shooter profiles, comparing statistics advancedly, and configuring shared shooting lanes.
I am a professional (law enforcement, security), can I use Target Tech ?
Absolutely. Target Tech is an ideal solution for municipal police or private security agents wishing to maintain a high level of reflex shooting training at a lower cost.
Use in a corporate, administrative, or commercial context is subject to special conditions and requires a specific professional contract. Contact us at contact@target-tech.fr to obtain a quote tailored to your staff and training infrastructure.
